Interview with KalPoint.com:

KalPoint.com: Please tell us about yourself, specifically about your educational background.

Sumera: My name is Sumera Muhammad Hanif; I did my Matriculation from Aga Khan School, Kharadar. Then I attained first position in Intermediate from D.H.A Degree College For Women in Computer Science group, all over Karachi. I am also honored to get the highest percentage in general science group, which is the highest ever, and therefore a new record in Board of Intermediate Education Examinations. Currently I am doing CA from Tabani’s School of Accountancy, PECHS, Karachi.

On my remarkable performance in the examinations of Intermediate Board, Tabani’s School of Accountancy, PECHS, Karachi has given me the scholarship of 99,000/= for continuing me career as chartered Accountant in their institute.

I was awarded with a cash price of Rs. 50,000/= by secretary Education Department, Government of Sindh for remarkable performance in Intermediate.

KalPoint.com:
Who do you think played a major role in your getting a position in Intermediate? Also please tell us whether you were expecting this position or not?

Sumera:
To tell you the truth, I was not expecting this position because people always talked about how source and “sifarish” is important to attain a position. However, I had worked hard and had faith on Almighty Allah so I was confident that I would get good grades at least. My parents and teachers played a major role in this position. It was because of their constant motivation and the environment that they provided for me, which lead to my success.

KalPoint.com: Do you think Matric, Inter syllabi are too old and outdated and need to be changed?

Sumera:  We certainly and most definitely need change in the syllabi, these syllabi seem to test only memory and not your knowledge and intelligence at all.

KalPoint.com:
What made you take up accounts after attaining a position in science?

Sumera: I always had interest in the field so I decided to do CA. plus I wanted to have knowledge of all subjects and therefore be the jack-of-all-trades.

KalPoint.com: Are you a bookworm or do you indulge in other activities as well?

Sumera: I do take part in other activities as well; in fact I always try to maintain a balance in whatever I do. I mean I would never give too much time to studies and lack on other activities and vice versa. One needs to do all types of things to keep the mind active at all times.

KalPoint.com: Which career do you think will be in demand in the years to come?

Sumera: I think IT will be in demand and so will be the CA. Actually CA is a profession which is required in all organizations, no matter what business they do, they will need a personnel to handle their accounts.

KalPoint.com: Are you going to be a career woman later on in life or a housewife?

Sumera: I am most definitely going to be a career woman; I am studying for the scopes and benefit of it, not just for the heck of it.

KalPoint.com:
What do you think can be done to stop the trend of cheating during the examination?

Sumera: I don’t think there’s any way to stop this evil. No matter what measures you take, if people want to cheat, they will find some way or the other to use these illegal and immoral means to pass the examination. All we can do is to teach them good morals so that they may abstain from this evil.

KalPoint.com: Is there any thing specifically that we need to change in our education system?

Sumera: We need to change our management style because teachers and school management usually focus on students getting good grades and attaining positions rather than giving them quality education and helping them acquire knowledge.

KalPoint.com: Any message you would like to give to those coming after you?

Sumera: Yes, I would only say that students must learn to manage their time properly. They mustn’t be focused on just one thing. Neither you be too involved in extra curricular activities nor you be too engaged in studies that you forget everything else. The balance must be maintained.

KalPoint.com: How did you like the website www.KalPoint.com?

Sumera: Excellent! I always consult this site for results, phone numbers, news and my father does so for prize bonds etc. Its like a Yahoo! from Pakistan.
